DigStart Privacy Policy ยท Last updated 17 October 2026

DigStart is provided by MGK Earthworks Pty Ltd (ABN 15 619 163 423).

1. Who we are. DigStart is provided by MGK Earthworks Pty Ltd (ABN 15 619 163 423, ACN 619 163 423), New South Wales, Australia ("we", "us"). Contact: privacy@digstart.com.au.

2. Our approach. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), as if they apply to us.

3. What we collect.

  • Account and billing: names, work emails, phone numbers, company name, ABN and billing address. Card details are handled by Stripe, and we don't store card numbers.
  • Fleet records that can include people's details:
    • operator names, IDs and signatures on prestart checks
    • technician and sign-off names on service records
    • the people who report faults or raise repair requests
    • supplier, dealer and contractor contact details
    • photos
  • Documents you upload: service sheets, oil analysis reports, invoices and manuals. These may contain the names and contact details of other people.
  • Support and usage: support requests and screenshots, and basic usage and device data, including technical information collected by our hosting provider (see item 7).
  • Location: we don't currently collect GPS location. If we add location later, for example from machine telematics, we'll update this policy first.
  • Voice: if you use the microphone in the Advisor, your browser's speech service turns your speech into text. In Chrome this is Google, which may process it in the USA or elsewhere.
  • If you use the Telegram bot, nicknames you teach it for your machines, and who taught them.

4. How we collect it. From you and your team when you use DigStart, from documents you upload, and from Stripe for payment status.

5. Why we use it. To:

  • provide DigStart (records, reminders, reports and AI-assisted data entry)
  • bill you
  • give support
  • keep the service secure
  • send product news, if you agree to it

We don't sell personal information.

DigStart currently runs on Base44, a platform operated by Wix.com Ltd. Base44's terms give it and its service providers a broad licence over data stored on or processed through its platform, including to improve its services, to train AI models and to use customer data in its own marketing. We're moving DigStart to hosting in Sydney, Australia, before paid plans start, and we'll update this policy when we do.

6. AI processing. We use AI services through our platform provider Base44 to read uploaded documents and suggest records, service schedules, health scores and forecasts. The AI providers are OpenAI and Anthropic (USA) and Google (USA). Base44 may also route some requests to other AI providers it lists at docs.base44.com/Community-and-support/ai-service-providers, which may be in other countries, including Singapore, the Netherlands, Germany and Israel. These suggestions are about machines. Most are shown to a person in your business to confirm before they're saved. When you upload an operator manual, DigStart adds the service intervals it finds to that machine's schedule and open job sheets straight away, so check them against the manual. We don't use AI to make decisions about individuals' employment or rights. Item 5 explains what our platform provider's terms allow. AI document reading is optional: you can enter records by hand instead, and you can ask us at privacy@digstart.com.au to stop sending your documents to AI services.

DigStart doesn't use computer programs to make decisions, or substantially inform decisions, that significantly affect individuals' rights or interests.

7. Who we share it with.

  • Base44 (Wix.com Ltd): our app platform (USA; Wix in Israel)
  • Base44's service providers for hosting, file storage, email, logging and analytics: Mongo, Render, Supabase, SendGrid, Google Cloud and Datadog (USA), Langfuse (Germany, logs AI requests) and Logfire (UK). The current list is at base44.com/security.
  • Technical logs. Our hosting provider collects technical logs, such as the pages you view, your IP address and your device and browser, to run its service.
  • Third-party page code. Our app's pages, through our hosting platform, load code from third parties: sign-in code from Google and styling code from a content delivery network. These providers receive your IP address and browser details when the code loads. If you choose to sign in with Google, Google handles that sign-in under its own privacy policy.
  • AI providers: see item 6
  • Tools we use to build, back up and support DigStart: the Grok Bot AI agent platform, including AI assistants that help us with engineering and support (its data location isn't confirmed by the provider yet, and may be outside Australia), and Google (USA), which hosts our email inbox.
  • Our website host, Amazon Web Services (AWS Amplify, Sydney, Australia), which keeps standard server logs (such as IP addresses) when you visit digstart.com.au.
  • Stripe (Stripe Payments Australia Pty Ltd; may transfer data to the USA and other countries): payments
  • Google (browser speech service), only if you use the Advisor microphone in Chrome
  • The people you choose: contractors, OEM dealers and principal contractors' site administrators you send records or links to
  • Anyone else only where the law requires it, or with your consent.

If you connect Telegram, your messages with the DigStart Advisor bot and its replies go through Telegram FZ-LLC, which stores them on its servers in several countries; the bot can share item titles (make, model and type) and links that open in the app, where you need to sign in. They aren't end-to-end encrypted. Telegram's own terms and privacy policy also apply.

We don't use WhatsApp.

7A. Shared spec library. Your records and files are never shared with other customers. We may use OEM specification facts from manuals to improve the shared spec library, without any information that identifies you or your machines. Shared library entries never include serial numbers, machine hours, registration numbers (regos), names, the identity of the uploader, or notes on machine condition.

8. Overseas disclosure. Our app's data is stored in the United States. It may also be accessed or processed in Israel, Germany, the UK and, for some AI requests, the other countries listed in item 6. Our main providers have data-processing terms and security certifications (Base44 says it holds SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certification), but overseas laws may differ from Australian law, and an overseas provider may be required by its local law to disclose data to authorities there. We can't offer Australian-only storage today. If you need it, talk to us. Overseas recipients also include Google (Google LLC, USA) and a content delivery network (location varies), for the code our app's pages load (see item 7). If you connect Telegram, overseas recipients also include Telegram (UAE and other countries) (see item 7). Overseas recipients also include Google (Google LLC, USA), which hosts our email inbox, and possibly the Grok Bot AI agent platform (location not yet confirmed), which we use to build, back up and support DigStart (see item 7).

9. Security.

  • Data sent to and from DigStart is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
  • Each customer's records are kept separate by access controls.
  • We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, change or disclosure.

10. Retention.

  • We keep your data while you're a customer.
  • After you cancel, your account becomes read-only and we keep your records and files so you can come back or export them. You can also ask us for your files, and we'll send them within 30 days. We delete them within 30 days of you asking us to (see below), or 2 years after you cancel if you haven't come back, and we'll email you before that happens.
  • Copies may stay in our backups for a limited period after deletion. We restrict access to backups and don't restore deleted data except to fix a security or system problem. Our platform provider keeps routine backups for a period set by its own policy, and may keep data where the law requires.
  • To delete your account or your data, email privacy@digstart.com.au from your account email address. We'll confirm your request, delete your data within 30 days and tell you in writing when it's done.
  • AI providers may keep content they process for up to 30 days, or longer if it's flagged for misuse (for example, Anthropic keeps flagged content for up to 2 years). Base44's AI request logs (Langfuse, Germany) are kept for a period set by Base44.
  • Spec library facts don't identify you, so they stay after you leave.
  • If our platform provider uses data to train AI models under its terms, that data may not be removable from those models.
  • We keep billing records for as long as tax law requires (generally 5 years).
  • We keep a record of who accepted our terms, when, and which version, for 7 years after your account closes, so we can show what was agreed.
  • The Telegram bot remembers the machine you last asked about for up to 30 minutes. It doesn't store your messages.

11. Access and correction. You can ask to see or correct personal information we hold about you. If it's in your employer's records, we may refer you to them, because our customer controls their account. We'll respond within 30 days and may need to confirm your identity first. There's no charge.

12. Marketing. We only send marketing with your consent, and every message has an unsubscribe link.

13. Complaints. Email privacy@digstart.com.au. We'll respond to your complaint within 30 days. If you're not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au, 1300 363 992). Because we're a small business, the OAIC may not be able to investigate your complaint, but it can tell you your options.

13A. Cookies, analytics and advertising. Our app uses cookies and similar technology to keep you signed in and to understand how DigStart is used. Our website, digstart.com.au, doesn't use cookies or tracking.

14. Changes. We'll post updates here and email customers about material changes.
